In Eco Community Governance, successful proposals need to pass through two phases: a “Proposal Phase” and a “Voting Phase”. In the Proposal Phase, tokenholders stake support for the submitted proposal using their voting power. A threshold of 15% of the total voting power needs to be reached in order for a proposal to pass to the Voting Phase.

More on the details of these phases can be found in the Community Governance docs.

As a constituent in the ecosystem with significant delegations assigned to it, the Eco Association is outlining here the criteria under which it will support and vote on proposals, in order to be transparent to the community.

Support Criteria

To be considered for Association support in the Proposal Phase, proposals should first be submitted to the Protocol Discussion & Ideas Category of the Eco Forum in advance of onchain submission. This should be done with sufficient time to allow for community feedback, questions and to implement any necessary adjustments. Proposal authors should monitor the forum post and seek to answer community questions and requests for more information. Also, if requested authors should be prepared to attend a community call to discuss the proposal live.

From there, the Association will support proposals that have followed the process and that are without significant, unaddressed objections in the forum. Practically speaking, the Association has chosen to support the majority of governance proposals so far.

Voting Criteria

The Association will always vote on technical protocol upgrades or bug patches that it deems important to be passed when they are submitted by trusted entities, which we define to be individuals or organizations with a track record of three previously successful EGPs.

Beyond that, the Association will use its discretion as to when it chooses to vote for any given proposal.

Conclusion

The Association's primary mandate is to ensure the development and growth of the Eco protocol and we reserve the right to act in accordance with that primary goal, even if it means conflicting with the above criteria. We will always optimize for what we believe to be the best possible outcome for Eco and the community.
